What do you delight in? What’s the thing that gives you joy? Brightens your day? What’s your heart’s desire? The thing you long for, hope for, dream about?
“Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Ps. 37:4). If we have the right delight, God says He’ll give us the desires of our hearts. What a promise! I love this circular reasoning. If we delight ourselves in the LORD (What’s our delight? It’s Him) … He will give us the desires of our hearts. If the Lord is truly our delight, then the desire of our heart will be more of Him.
Is there a limit to this delight? Would God deny us more of Himself? According to His word, the answer is no. “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart” (Jer. 29:13). For every believer, the greater giving of the Spirit is available for the asking. Luke 11:13 says, “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
So, go ahead – delight yourself in the LORD … to your very heart’s desire.
